Von Clemans is a PC(USA) pastor/educator who has served small and large congregations. He retired (2017) after 18 years as associate pastor in adult faith formation ministries at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.
His passions are working with leaders in the “second chair;” helping congregations, educators, and pastors strengthen adult education/faith formation ministries; being a conversation partner for health and growth in ministry; using Family Systems Theory to navigate life and ministry; and making appropriate use of technology to enhance ministry.
Von is a graduate of the Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA — formerly Union Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (M.A). In 2014 Von completed the D.Ed.Min. program at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA, with a primary focus on educational technology.
Von is the co-author, with Steve Eason, of Making Disciples, Making Leaders — A Manual for Presbyterian Church Leader Development, Second Edition.
He served as president (2016) of the Association of Partners in Christian Education, a professional organization supporting Reformed educational ministry across North America, and in 2022 was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Von is a member of the Religious Education Association and Healthy Congregations.
He is married to Marion Sensenich Clemans, a retired PC(USA) educator. They live in Charlotte, NC, and have two adult children and three grandchildren.
